"Absolutely the best steak around. So glad to be able to make a reservation with friends and get in one more meal in 2025."

- Two L.

"I would like to thank Carolina Restaurant and especially the kind ladies that took my order last night. I live in NC, and wanted to surprise my mom for her birthday with a steak dinner, so I called it in and had a friend pick it up and take it to her. Without surprise my mom called to thank me, not once but numerous times she told me that her steak was the best steak that she had ever had. So with that being said, if I could rate my experience from miles away, it would definitely be more than 5 stars, thanks again ladies for making my mom one happy lady."

"Best kept secret in Chesterfield County. This place is like that of a magic small town diner you'd only read about in the beginning of a Stephen King novel, and the superfluous steak is a wellspring fountain of youth!"

"Visited this location with friends. It's quite unassuming... biggest note is that there were NO windows. Not even a glass door. Kind of unsettling. Lots of locals. Heard lots of good thing nah about their steaks. Couldn't wait. Apparently, the steaks are farm-to-table. The steak was tasty. A bit chewy for me... but enjoyable. Came with a big ole baked potato and the BIGGEST ball of butter/sour cream/chives I've ever seen! I went for coleslaw as my second side. Very good... Sweet... the way I like it. Overall, it was a pleasant experience. Doubt I'll return though."

"This is a gem of a restaurant and we are blessed to have it. Food, service, prices are all excellent. You always count on a good experience and delicious meal. Their small ribeye is what I get amd it's always cooked to perfection and with a baked potato and salad bar you can not beat the price. Baked potatoes are served with lots of real butter and absolutely divine. 10 out of 10."

"Very good steak house. This is truly a hidden gem. Located on the outskirts of Chesterfield. The steak was one of the best that I've ever had. Great salad bar. The service was very good. I would definitely recommend this place."

"When my fiance, in-laws, and I decided to visit Carolina Restaurant & Steak House in Chesterfield, South Carolina, I honestly didn't know what to expect. As someone who's used to Atlanta dining, this small-town, family-run restaurant was definitely a new experience. Spoiler alert: it was equal parts charming, chaotic, and authentically Southern. We called ahead around 5:45 PM to make a reservation, and the earliest they could fit a table of four was at 7:45 PM. (If you're planning to visit, definitely call ahead--this place gets busy!) When we arrived, the parking lot was packed, so much so that my father-in-law had to drop us off and go hunt for a spot. Walking in, I was immediately hit with the noise--it's LOUD. Families chatting, dishes clanking, servers rushing back and forth--it's not exactly a quiet, intimate vibe, but it's lively and full of energy. The decor is simple and functional, and the whole place feels like it hasn't changed much over the years, which adds to the charm. It's unpretentious and very Southern in every way. Now, let's talk about the menu. It's straightforward and to the point, with a mix of steak, seafood, and Southern staples. They also have a salad bar, which is something I haven't seen in ages. Here's an interesting quirk: tea and water are unlimited, but sodas come in cans, and there are no refills. It's a small detail, but it stood out since most places don't charge for extra soda anymore. What We Ordered Fiance's Dish: She got the small ribeye with a baked potato topped with bacon and cheese. Her verdict? "It's a good ribeye for someone who doesn't usually eat ribeye." The steak was cooked properly and seasoned decently, but it wasn't life-changing. Mother-in-Law's Dish: She opted for the flounder, which came with baked potatoes, hush puppies, and one trip to the salad bar. She said it was good--fresh and well-cooked--but nothing particularly special. Father-in-Law's Dish: He went with the small well-done butterfly fillet, paired with baked potatoes and one salad bar trip. His thoughts? "Definitely fulfilling, but not the best steak I've had." My Dish: I chose the New York Strip, cooked medium rare, with a baked potato. I loaded up the potato at the salad bar, which was a fun little touch. As for the steak itself, it was well-seasoned and had a good flavor, but it wasn't the juiciest or most tender I've had. Solid, but not mind-blowing. The Experience What really stands out about this place is how unapologetically Southern it is. From the handwritten tickets to the fact that someone was openly carrying a gun near the salad bar (yes, that happened), it's clear this restaurant is deeply rooted in its community. The service was excellent--our server was attentive, friendly, and kept our drinks filled without us ever needing to ask. The food came out quickly, which I assume is because of the straightforward menu. That said, the overall atmosphere is loud and chaotic. When we arrived, a party was leaving, and there was a bit of a bottleneck at the entrance. It's not a place to go for a quiet meal, but it's perfect for a casual family dinner. Final Thoughts Carolina Restaurant & Steak House isn't trying to compete with fancy steakhouses or big-name chains. It's a small-town gem that does what it does well: serve up hearty Southern food in a lively, welcoming environment. Would I go back? Yes, but I'd come with the right expectations. It's not a five-star, "blow-your-mind" experience, but it's a solid, down-to-earth restaurant that delivers on its promise. Pros: * Excellent service. * Hearty, satisfying Southern dishes. * A nostalgic, "mom-and-pop" vibe. Cons: * Loud and chaotic during peak hours. * Limited menu options. * Parking can be a hassle. If you're in Chesterfield and looking for a local spot with good food and friendly service, this place is worth a visit. Just don't expect anything too fancy--it's all about the charm of simplicity here. Rating: 4/5 stars"
